The Serum Proteins in Infectious Mononucleosis
نویسنده
چکیده
Previous investigations have shown the very frequent occurrence in infectious mononucleosis of abnormal findings on liver function tests (1-7), and of hepatic involvement on histologic examination of both autopsy (8-11) and biopsy material (1, 12-14) in cases with and without jaundice. Alterations observed in the composition of the serum proteins (2, 4, 6, 15, 16a) appear to be compatible with the occurrence of positive cephalin-cholesterol flocculation and thymol turbidity

Investigation of ELISA and PCR for Diagnosis of Infectious Mononucleosis
Background and Aims: Infectious mononucleosis (IM)is the clinical manifestation of primary infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Humans are the only known reservoir of EBV. Regarding the problems in diagnosis of the disease, the purpose of this study was to assess Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as a diagnostic tool for this disease. Mate...
متن کاملEvaluation of IL-17 and IL-10 Production in Infectious Mononucleosis in EBV Patients
Epstein–Barr virus is primarily the cause of acute infectious mononucleosis and can also cause lymphoma and autoimmune diseases. Th17 cells, which are a unique subset of ThCD4+ cells, direct the infection toward inflammation through production of inflammatory cytokine IL-17. In contrast, Treg Foxp3 cells inhibit inflammation through secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, leading to chro...
متن کاملLymphoma infectious mononucleosis by Epstein-Barr virus: A case report
Background: Epstein-Bar virus (EBV) causes infectious mononucleosis in more than 90% of children. Rarely, mononucleosis may lead to malignancy. The aim the current study was to introduce a child with mononucleosis and persistent adenopathy. Case report: A 4-year-old male patient presented with complaints of fever, shortness of breath and sore throat. He was treated with antibiotics and prednis...
متن کاملMonospot : a differential slide test for infectious mononucleosis VIVIAN BASSON AND
For many years, the Paul-Bunnell reaction (Paul and Bunnell, 1932) to demonstrate the presence of heterophile antibodies to sheep red cells has been accepted as a specific test for establishing the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis. Stuart (1935), Bailey and Raffel (1935), and Davidsohn and Walker (1935) independently differentiated the antibodies for Forssman antigen and those of serum sic...
متن کاملEpstein-Barr virus-specific serum immunoglobulin A as an acute-phase antibody in infectious mononucleosis.
Immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus viral capsid antigen were assayed serially in 19 patients with infectious mononucleosis and in 38 controls. Seventy-four percent of infectious mononucleosis patients demonstrated IgA antibody, whereas this was found in 13% of controls. This antibody appeared early in infectious mononucleosis and was virtually gone 10 weeks after onset. Com...
